Whilst
travelling through the southwest of Western Australia, we discovered
the beautiful Blackwood River Valley which reminded us so much of
our homeland in Southern England, with it's rolling hills, pine trees
and natural forests.
Route
251 from Balingup to Nannup winds and undulates along the Blackwood
River passing under sweeping canopies of Redgum, Jarrah and Marri
trees.
|
|
Finding an empty block of land that meandered down to the Blackwood River was available for purchase, Fern Gulley was conceived. |

|
|
We
were welcomed by a local "Bertie Bird" who is a white
Corrella owned by Mrs Bird who lives up the valley from us. Bertie
still visits, even after 10 years, to scrounge biscuits, talk to
the guests and be made a fuss of. |
|
Our aim
was a tropical oasis within the very heart of the Blackwood
Valley and as such Fern Gulley nestles on the banks of the Blackwood
River. We have created a very special place for stressed out
business couples, parents escaping the kids, honeymooners and
those just wanting to get away. There is nothing more relaxing
than sitting on your own private balcony taking in the beauty
that nature provides with a variety of birds, kangaroos and
the majestic trees.
We are
proud to have as our neighbours Red Gum Hill Country Retreat
and Tathra Winery and Restaurant. Tathra Restaurant will deliver
your evening meals to your chalet should you decide you do not
wish to cook for yourself.
We look
forward to the time when you can visit with us in Nature's Haven,

and Bonnie Baxter
